Google Announces Mobile Friendliness Requirement

On April 21, 2015 Google rolled out its "Mobile Friendliness" requirements.  As per Google "The mobile-friendly update will boost the rankings of mobile-friendly pages -- pages that are legible and usable on mobile devices -- in mobile search results worldwide. (Conversely, pages designed for only large screens may see a significant decrease in rankings in mobile search results.)"

If your website is not mobile friendly don't panic, your website will not go to the bottom of search results, at least not on searches conducted on desktops (or laptops).  This update is focused on search results on Mobile Devices, not desktops.  However, with the predominant growth of mobile device use in accessing the internet you don't want to ignore this very important website requirement.

What does this mean for websites designed by Internet Innovations Group?...

If your website was designed by Internet Innovations Group on Squarespace 7 it is fully compatible with Google’s mobile Friendliness requirement.

If your website was designed by Internet Innovations Group, it is a Squarespace website.  We selected Squarespace, early on, as our website design platform in large part because the resulting websites were inherently mobile ready.  We have designed websites in Squarespace since its first version, most of our clients are now updated to Squarespace version 7 or 6.  If your website is version 7, it is fully compatible with Google's mobile friendliness requirement.  Most Squarespace 6 websites meet this requirements as well.  If your website is Squarespace version 5 or below, or if your website is not a Squarespace website, please contact us for an upgrade.
