I frequently run into clients who have Microsoft Outlook post office files (.PST files) in excess of 2GB, which becomes a real issue when performing backups across the network, or as is frequently the case, are in need of repair, and/or compact.
Large Outlook files can cause recovery processes to take hours. Most clients don't think about this issue until something happens and they can't use their Outlook for 4 Hrs while the file is repaired, restored, etc.

With the above in mind, I found this article and video, "Tame Your Outlook Inbox with Subfolders, Rules and Filters" by Bob Fisser, that provides exactly the steps to organize your Outlook email by:
- Creating Subfolders
- Moving a Message Using a Quick Step or the Move Button
- Creating Rules to Move Messages Automatically
- Filtering Messages
